Tres Hermanas 03/24/2009

This is Jasmine and Jade's clutch. Aren't they gorgeous?! They are 37-40 days old.

Lights Out! 03/24/2009

Aren't these cool pictures, or what? These are our Pearl Lutino's under a black light.

Just hanging out 03/22/2009

The tiel's and the bourkes got to spend some time flying around today. Then of course they got hungry and decided to land in my dinner plate. Good thing it was eggs and whole grain toast!

The time has gone by so fast. We are really going to miss these little guys. They are so beautiful and trusting. I'll miss them all landing on my head. :D

LIttle Tiels 03/08/2009

Jasmine and Jade's clutch are doing very well! They are almost ready to come out of the nest box. We see the oldest ones little head sticking out sometimes. We are not hand feeding these guys, we are trying a new technique called "co-parenting" where we handle them daily and feed them a few times a day. Luckily Jasmine and Jade do not mind the help and they are already very docile. No more cobra dance when they see us. :D We believe we have a two pearls this time! We were unsure of Jasmine's and Jade's genetic background but we got a big surprise!

Bath Time! 03/08/2009

All the babies are now in the big bird cage where they have lots of room to stretch their wings. They are flying so well, even the tiels! Here are a few pictures of bath time. They aren't too happy with me right now. ha But they know step up pretty well so getting them back into their cage was no problem.

Runty, you left us today while I held you to me. I knew the day was coming since the day you were born, but you gave me hope with your cheerful disposition and shining eyes. Your poor little body just couldn't hang on, even if your spirit wanted to. When I looked at you, I saw an angel with beautiful white wings. You came to us to teach us compassion, patience, hope, and joy. For 33 days you taught us so much. I believe the next time we see you, you will be beautifully feathered, and flying with angels. I hope you will be waiting for us on the rainbow bridge. We named you Runty, but we should have named you Love.

More eggs... 02/26/2009

It seems that Mork and Mindy decided they wanted to try again. We also have several bourke females looking at boxes and one had two eggs already!! Looks like they will be regular rosies this time around. The scarlet's seem to still be on strike. We may bring home another male tomorrow from birdmart and see what happens.

Hard to believe they are already almost 2 weeks old. Seems like yesterday....
Two of them are already getting little black feathers. I think one will be Lutino.

Pied Cockatiel 02/26/2009

This is Mork and Mindy's only pied baby this clutch. Black and Yellow, my favorite!
